LEANS Australia is an authorised, English-language version of LEANS adapted for Australian schools, ensuring cultural relevance and alignment with the Australian Curriculum. The project is led by Reframing Autism, an Autistic-led organisation committed to reshaping how society understands Autism through lived experience, research and human-rights-based education. This work has been supported by funding from the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Aging under the Inclusion and Accessibility Fund.The cultural adaptation process has included updating language, visual content and examples so that the materials resonate with Australian students and educators. The adaptation was guided by an advisory group that included First Nations representatives, teachers, neurodivergent individuals and young people, ensuring the program reflects diverse perspectives and experiences. In 2026, the programme is being evaluated in partnership with researchers at the Olga Tennison Autism Research Centre at La Trobe University, and has had a very impressive degree of interest from teachers and schools.The final version of LEANS Australia will be released for free early in 2027!
