New LEANS policy briefing (Scotland)

LEANS featured in the Scottish Government’s Education Research Seminar Series, November 2023.

In 2023, LEANS was accepted to present to policymakers as part of the Scottish Government’s Education Research Seminar Series. This monthly knowledge exchange seminar series is part of the Scottish Government’s School Research plan for 2023-2026, and “offers policymakers an opportunity to hear from and engage with university researchers.”

LEANS researchers Dr Alyssa Alcorn and Dr Sarah McGeown presented about LEANS and its educational policy implications on November 29, 2023, supported by a short policy brief. This document explains the connections between LEANS (and neurodiversity teaching generally) and current legislation and policy priorities in Scotland.

Thank you again to our hosts for this important opportunity to speak directly with policymakers about neurodiversity, education, and inclusion.

As researchers, we think it is extremely important to speak to policymakers, and to include neurodiversity and neurodivergence in policy. If you are a policymaker at any level who would like to speak to us, please contact the project via LEANS (at) ed.ac.uk.
