LEANS at the Scottish Education Expo Sept 21-22

The Scottish Education Expo is a large event for education professionals, with two days of talks on education research and practice, combined with ~150 exhibitors of educational resources, organisations, technologies, and more.

The 2022 theme is "WHAT NOW? WHAT NEXT?", focusing on what needs to happen now in Scottish education and what the next steps are. As it might not surprise you to hear, the LEANS team think that understanding and teaching about neurodiversity in schools is an important next step, with potential to benefit all pupils.

Per the organisers, this event will be CPD accredited. This means that educators who attend the Scottish Education Expo will be able to count their attendance towards their Continuing Professional Development. Please see the event website/organisers for details.

Visit our stand!

Throughout the conference, team members from LEANS and our partner the Salvesen Mindroom Centre (SMC) will have an exhibition stand (H90) with information about the LEANS resources, plus the many resources and supports available from the SMC.

This is a great chance for educators to get your LEANS questions answered in person—and hear about new resources we hope to announce closer to the event date. Please come by, say hi, and grab some free stuff!

LEANS on the keynote stage

Dr Alyssa Alcorn will present on the Keynote Stage at 13:30 on Thursday 22nd, about “What is neurodiversity, and what does it have to do with my classroom? Theory into practice”. This talk + Q&A focuses on neurodiversity concepts as a tool in the classroom—and as distinct from the concept of additional support needs. LEANS is one (free!) tool for introducing those concepts in an engaging and age-appropriate way.

We have some very limited capacity for pre/post event meetings in Glasgow, for example if you are another speaker or exhibitor who may not be able to catch us during the event. Please see our contact page for how best to get in touch!
